Decision guide
Compare a garage door quote without missing the installation scope
Compare the same components, work and responsibilities before judging the bottom-line price.

- 01Door assembly
Material, dimensions, finish and glazing define the product being compared.
- 02Hardware and opener
Track, springs and opener must suit the specified door.
- 03Installation and disposal
Measure, remove, install, test and dispose: identify each included task.
- 04Written exclusions
Anything left outside the price becomes a written question before approval.
Separate the product from the work
A door specification should identify construction, dimensions, finish and any glazing. An installation proposal should also explain track and counterbalance components, removal, fitting, operational checks and cleanup. An opener, electrical work and repairs to the opening may be separate items.
Ask what could change the estimate
A quote based on photographs may depend on a later site assessment. Ask what was measured, what is assumed and which findings trigger a revised quote. Compare warranty responsibilities for the product and installation separately.
Use the comparison worksheet
Record each proposal against the items below. A blank item is a question for the business, not evidence it is included. Do not compare a telephone product price with an installed, inspected system.
Connect this decision to the service scope
Before discussing an assessment, read the garage door replacement and installation planning scope and preparation questions so the proposed work and exclusions are clear.
